My birthday at the end of June has prompted a refreshing of my website and addition of photos of recent work. Looking through these images I see that the artwork may be recent but the themes are ancient, and my lifelong interests in them still persist. The classical world of mythology, the Olympian gods and their human frailties, the universal themes of the Tarot, the magical thinking of Egyptian Book of the Dead, and the expression of human passion have attracted and influenced me since college and still do. I was a literature major in school, never an artist. But now I find pleasure in the process of creating, of plunging my hands into clay and having the figure tell me who it wants to become. Creating figure sculpture is like stealing fire from the gods!
