ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My hands are drawn to creative expression in clay, both in sculpture and in the garden. I also love the immediacy of watercolor and the transparency and the vibrancy of the paint.  I am inspired by the natural beauty of Woodstock, where I have owned a home for over 30 years, and am stimulated by the cultural vibrancy of my native NYC, where I maintain an apartment.

My muse has been calling me; I retired in June 2016 in order to dive more deeply into art. I have have studied with inspiring teachers at historic art schools. Rhoda Sherbell and now Tricia Cline for sculpture; Staats Fasoldt and Richard Segalman for watercolor. The National Academy Museum & School and the Art Students League of NY, and the Woodstock School of Art all cast their spell on me the moment I walked through their doors. I was accepted into membership at the National Association of Women Artists and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and am an Active Member at the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum. I have been showing art in galleries in NYC and the Hudson Valley, including the National Arts Club, One Art Space, WAAM, Kleinert James Gallery, Emerge Gallery, 11 Jane Street/Newberry.
